Professor Dr. Abdelwahab Omri earned his PhD in Pharmacology from Université de Montréal, Canada, in 1996. Following this, he pursued postdoctoral fellowships at McGill University and the University of Toronto from 1996 to 1998. He then served as a Research Associate at the National Research Council (NRC), Institute of Biological Sciences in Ottawa, Canada for over two years until 2000.

Currently, Dr. Omri holds the position of Full Professor in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at Laurentian University, Sudbury, Ontario, Canada. He also has cross-appointments to the Department of Biology and the Biomolecular Sciences PhD Programme, as well as the School of Rural and Northern Health PhD Programme at Laurentian University.

Dr. Omri's research is primarily focused on lipid-based drug and vaccine delivery systems. His laboratory employs a multidisciplinary approach to study antimicrobial resistance in gram-negative bacteria among cystic fibrosis patients and in medical device implants. In addition to his research endeavors, Dr. Omri plays an active role in undergraduate and graduate education. He coordinates various courses in biochemistry, pharmacology, toxicology, and pharmaceutical technology. He is deeply committed to mentoring and training both undergraduate and graduate students in research.

Dr. Omri has held administrative roles in several international scientific societies and has contributed significantly to the field with over 170 peer-reviewed research articles, numerous book chapters, and two authored books. He serves on editorial boards for several journals and has been involved in grant review panels both in Canada and abroad. Dr. Omri also holds three patents related to his research.
