Everett F. 'Pat' Magann, MD graduated from Bluefield College in Bluefield, VA with an AS degree in Science and Carson-Newman College in Jefferson City, TN with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology. He attended the Medical College of Virginia in Richmond, VA graduating in 1975. His internship and Residency were at the Carolinas Medical Center (formerly known as Charlotte Memorial Hospital) in Charlotte, NC completing the residency in 1979. Upon graduation he returned to southern WVA where he practiced as a generalist in OB-GYN for the next 9 years.

In 1988, he joined the US Navy with his first duty station at the Naval Hospital at Camp Lejeune, NC. In 1991, he did a full time out-of-service fellowship in MFM at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, MS. After completing the Maternal Fetal Medicine Fellowship (MFM) he served 3 years at Naval Medical Center in San Diego. In 1997, he left active duty but stayed in the Naval Reserves and returned as a staff MFM at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, MS.

In 2001, he was offered a job as an MFM specialist at the University of Western Australia where he worked at their tertiary obstetric hospital, King Edward Memorial Hospital, for the next 2 years. He was then recalled to active duty in the US Navy for operation Iraq Freedom in 2003, where he served at Naval Medical Center Portsmouth, VA until he retired from the Navy in 2010. He then took a position as MFM division director at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS). Two years later, he started an MFM Fellowship at UAMS and remains there now as Fellowship Director.

He currently holds dual full professorship in both departments of OB-GYN and Genetics at UAMS. He is also a clinical professor at OB-GYN University of Western Australia and at Oklahoma State University. He has been the PI on several clinical trials, NIH grants and independent research. To date, he is an author or co-author on 325 abstracts, 400 peer review publications, and 40 book chapters.
